What are Cookies?
Cookies are packets of information sent by a web server (e.g. the website) to the user’s Internet browser, which automatically stores them on the user’s computer and automatically sends them back to the server each time the website is subsequently accessed.
By default, almost all web browsers are configured to automatically accept cookies.
Typically, cookies may be installed:
- Directly by the owner and/or operator of the website (so-called first-party cookies);
- By parties unrelated to the website visited by the user (so-called third-party cookies). Unless otherwise specified, it should be noted that these cookies are subject to the direct and exclusive responsibility of the relevant operator. Further information on privacy and their use can be found directly on the websites of the respective operators.
This Website may use, including in combination with one another, the following types of cookies, classified on the basis of the guidelines provided by the Garante Privacy and the Opinions issued at European level by the Working Party established pursuant to Article 29 of the GDPR:
- Session cookies, which are not stored persistently on the User’s computer and are deleted when the browser is closed. They are strictly limited to the transmission of session identifiers necessary to enable safe and efficient browsing of the Website, thereby avoiding the use of other IT techniques that could potentially compromise the confidentiality of Users’ browsing activities;
- Persistent cookies, which remain stored on the computer’s hard drive until they expire or are deleted by Users/visitors. Through persistent cookies, visitors accessing the Website (or any other Users using the same computer) are automatically recognised each time they visit the Website. Visitors may configure their computer’s browser so that it accepts or rejects all cookies, or displays a warning whenever a cookie is proposed, allowing them to assess whether or not to accept it. Users may, in any event, modify the default configuration and disable cookies (i.e. permanently block them) by setting the highest level of protection;
- Technical cookies: these are cookies used for authentication, to access multimedia content such as Flash Player content, or to allow Users to select the browsing language. In general, it is therefore not necessary to obtain the User’s prior and informed consent. This category also includes cookies used to statistically analyse access to/visits to the Website, provided that they are used exclusively for statistical purposes and through the collection of information in aggregated form;
- Non-technical cookies: these are all cookies used for profiling and marketing purposes. Their use on Users’ devices is prohibited unless Users have first been adequately informed and have provided valid consent in accordance with the opt-in mechanism.
